Other Biology graduation-assessment options
You must still pass Biology I and participate in its state test. After one unsuccessful test attempt, ask your counselor about these alternatives:
- ACT Science: 17 or higher (Science section score, not composite; Residual ACT scores do not qualify).
- College Biology I + lab: C or higher through eligible dual enrollment/dual credit.
- ASVAB AFQT 36+ + approved industry certification (PiCAT prescreen scores do not qualify).
- ACT WorkKeys Silver or higher + approved industry certification.
- Bridge-to-Career: C or higher in the portfolio/exhibit course for eligible final-semester seniors who cannot use other options; school approval and additional eligibility requirements apply.
These meet the assessment requirement, not every diploma requirement. Your counselor must confirm eligibility. Sources: MDE Rule 36.5 · Bridge-to-Career. Checked November 4, 2026.
About these estimates and graduation options
Percentage estimates illustrate the supplied achievement bands. They are not an official raw-score conversion; actual percentages can vary by test form. A course-grade graduation option can meet the assessment requirement without reaching Level 3 on the test. Confirm eligibility with your school counselor.
